On a visit to Indiana Dunes National Park, Benjamin and Tiffany hiked the Dune Succession Trail at West Beach where they explored the dune fields and enjoyed spending some time on the shore of Lake Michigan. They also visited the park’s Century of Progress Historic District to see the historic houses that were brought to Indiana from the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair.
A few days later they stopped in Indianapolis to see the gravesite of President Benjamin Harrison (the 23rd President of the United States) in Crown Hill Cemetery.
We drove north through Indiana to Indianapolis where we toured the museum at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We also drove through downtown, seeing the Indiana World War Memorial, Obelisk Square, and the Indiana Statehouse before flying out of Indianapolis International Airport.
On a road trip around Lake Michigan, we drove through the northwest corner of Indiana where we visited Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore (now called Indiana Dunes National Park). We climbed a few of the dunes and enjoyed the views of Lake Michigan.
We flew to Indianapolis for an interview at the University of Indiana Medical Center. Staying at the downtown Sheraton hotel we did some shopping at the Circle Center Mall and were treated to dinner at Palomino.
Benjamin also walked part of the city and visited several memorials and monuments including the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Depew Memorial Fountain, the Indiana War Memorial, the Indiana Statehouse, White River State Park, the Indiana State Museum, and Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts football team.
