We took a long weekend trip to Louisiana. In Baton Rouge we visited both the Old State Capitol as well as the current Louisiana State Capitol. In New Orleans, we visited the French Quarter where we walked the streets and saw Jackson Square, the St. Louis Cathedral, the Mississippi Riverfront, Bourbon Street, Louis Armstrong Park, and the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park. We also took a ride on the historic Saint Charles Streetcar Line (the oldest continuously operating streetcar line in the world) and visited Audubon Park in the Garden District.
South of the city we visited Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve where we took an airboat swamp tour in the Bayou. North of town we drove across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, which is the longest continuous bridge over water in the world.
