Around 7:30 AM on Friday, December 23rd our honeymoon cruise ship (Island Princess) entered the very narrow Bocachica Channel heading towards the Columbia coast. After crossing the Bahia de Cartagena, we docked around 9:00 AM. It was a sunny day in Cartagena, with a temperature around 90 degrees.
After disembarking the ship, we took a tour of the city that included the walled ‘old’ city, the Fortress of San Felipe de Barajas, Simon Bolivar Park, the Zenu Gold Museum, shopping time at The Vaults, viewing the outdoor exhibits at the Naval Museum of the Caribbean, the Church of San Pedro Claver, and San Pedro Claver Square.
Tiffany had an opportunity to hold a Sloth and Benjamin had no choice but to take a picture with the ‘Fruit Ladies’. After purchasing some authentic Colombian Coffee, we returned to the ship. Around 3:00 PM the ship departed Cartagena and set a course for our next destination.
